Bengali Association of Southern California (BASC) is a US non-profit organization (Tax ID 95-3568482) dedicated to nurturing and promoting Bengali and Indian culture among Southern California residents. BASC runs two Bengali schools - Pathbhaban in San Fernando Valley area and Pathsala in Irvine area. BASC publishes a periodic e-newsletter, Sambad Bichitra; and two literary magazines - Kheya for grown-ups and Ankur for the children. BASC also organizes many cultural, social, philanthropic and religious events throughtout the year.

Vision Statement: BASC is a US non-profit philanthropic organization dedicated to nurturing and promoting Bengali and Indian culture, language, and religion for the Southern California community through educational, religious, and charitable activities.
Mission statement:
BASC will
· nurture and promote Bengali and Indian culture and languages in Southern California, including conducting classes to teach the language and other cultural traditions,
· observe and promote religious, traditional and cultural practices in Southern California,
· promote inter-cultural and inter-faith understanding,
· collect and transfer funds for humanitarian causes both within and outside United States,
· provide a forum for exchange of ideas, information, and mutual cooperation between similar organizations around the world,
· attempt to construct and maintain a multi-purpose facility to provide a location to facilitate its mission.
