Website: www.swajan-mi.org

Durga Puja at Swajan of Great Lakes is the biggest and most exciting Puja festival in Michigan and in the Detroit area. Over a weekend, we celebrate “Saptami”, “Ashtami”, “Navami” and “Vijayadashami” marking the triumph of Durga over Mahisasura. Our honorable priest performs all Durga puja ceremonies and Anjalis. This year we will celebrate Saptami and Ashtami on Saturday September 27th, and Navami and Vijayadashami on Sunday September 28th. The ceremonies get finished on Sunday night after “sindur khela” and “shanti jaal” distribution. At Swajan, it is all about traditions, and our goal is to make our guests feel at home.

Durga Puja at Swajan is also a grand party where you will have excellent food catered from some of the best Indian restaurants in the Detroit area.  Lunch and dinner is on us and is part of the puja experience. Both Saturday and Sunday afternoons are filled with cultural programs that involve singing, dancing and kids performances.

Saturday night we present our showcase event where some of the most well-known and recognized artists from India performs live at the Durga puja. The entertainment and the fun continue until midnight.
