We are delighted to bring to you our annual Fall Festival, Sharod Ustav. This is the most anticipated event of the year and is celebrated worldwide by the Asian-Indian community. Families and friends from the Mid-West get together on this joyous occasion to celebrate their culture and heritage along with renewing old friendships and making new ones. A rich variety of cultural events and festivities present themselves over a weekend. This year, the Bengali community of Cincinnati has the high honor and distinct privilege of hosting Sharod Utsav on September 27th, and 28th, 2014 at Sycamore Junior High School in Blue Ash, OH. As in the past, this exciting event is expected to attract over 1,000 participants from Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and other States.
Fall Festival has a nearly 30-year history in the Tri-State area. It is held in a unique rotation between the three states — Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana and thus we are privileged to host the festival only once every four years. In 2002, and 2006, and 2010 we had the honor of hosting this event at Cincinnati that attracted 600 families (over 1000 people) from the Tri-State area. Cincinnati Sharod Utsav (CSU) and its organizing committee consider this as a distinct honor to organize this event in 2014.
Cincinnati Sharod Utsav (CSU) is a non-profit organization created under the auspices of Agrani (The Bengali Association of Greater Cincinnati). Agrani is an association of people who trace their origin to Bengal, India and was formed in 1987. Agrani seeks to foster a spirit of friendship, cooperation and understanding between its members and the communities of Greater Cincinnati through socio-cultural activities and charitable work. Agrani is actively and regularly involved in the Greater Cincinnati community, providing food at the Drop-Inn Shelter in Cincinnati, collecting canned goods for the FreeStore Food Bank, collecting for Toys-for-Tots, raising funds for the March-of-Dimes, and fund collection drives on behalf of the Red Cross for victims of natural disaster. CSU was founded in 2001 as a 501(c) (3) organization registered with the IRS exclusively to host large events on behalf of Agrani. Both Agrani and CSU are non-profit organizations registered in the State of Ohio and based in Greater Cincinnati.
