The Association of Indians in Connecticut cordially welcomes you and your family to join our 25th Annual Durga Puja Celebration in Stamford, Connecticut.
Durga Puja festival champions the very cause of a nation, of a republic in action. It embodies the Bengali love of culture, the triumph of intellectualism over greed, the disdain for insincerity and the warmth of genuine humanity.
The various Goddesses apart from Durga represent the fundamental pillars that need to be developed to build a strong and independent nation. Goddess Lakshmi depicts the Country’s Economy. Goddess Saraswati symbolizes Education and Literacy. God Kartik represents Youth and the Army. God Ganesh represents Wealth and Commerce. And, leading the entire process is Goddess Durga-who depicts the entire concept of a Nation. Therefore, in one point of view, Durga Puja is worshipping to seek guidance towards development and peaceful co-existence of the mankind. As we participate in today’s celebration , instead of focusing on the world’s problem, we want to give our attention and energy to trust, love, abundance, education, and peace.
We are proud of our continued success in broadening our scope to include participation by the vast majority of Indian- American from all across Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. We appreciate the support we receive from local businesses and other sponsors. Our core members and volunteers have worked very hard in coordinating such a massive task to organize this festival. However, there are various challenges confronting our future operational success. We have experienced a gradual drop in Advertising Revenue, along with the incremental cost increases in mandatory expenses associated with the Cleaning services, Custodian supervision, Brochure and Mailing, and in procurement of Puja Food and Supplies. Furthermore, our Public Contribution income has remained subdued compared to prior years. To this end, YOUR generous contribution is truly appreciated.
